Huggies reward program!!

One of the things that I love about the Huggies reward program is that it's U.S. and Canada friendly. After I had  my daughter I was so excited about raking up points with all the diaper and wipes codes I was getting, I used Huggies diapers the most and at the time I could get them at a really good price with sales and coupons. I had accumulated enough points the first 3 years of her life that I ended up cashing in my points (at different times) to get 6 Free Product Coupons that were good for a pack of the big diapers each. Now that I no longer need diapers and only buy wipes I don't accumulate the points as fast.

I would still browse there rewards section every once in a while to see if something would jump out at me and something did, the first time I cashed in points for something other than coupons was for a Winnie the Pooh potty seat, which was timed perfectly with potty training her.She loved it.

The second time I cashed in points was right around Christmas time last year and it was for a wooden tool kit toy (which I have seen in stores for around $18-$20). So she got it for Christmas, she loves playing with it and every time Daddie needs a hammer or mallet for something she gets hers out and says shes ready to help.

This last time I cashed in points was for a wooden bear basic skills puzzle. It helps her to get dressed with different pieces that teaches her to use a zipper, tie laces, use snaps, buckles and a few others. My Daughter loves it!!! The zipper is a little tricky, but she's almost got it down.

There's a lot of different prizes to choose from, not all are child related. They have music downloads and magazine subscriptions to name a few.

Christmas in July.... my 2013 St. Joesph Hospital Donation

With my birthday only a few days away, I cant help but remember my past birthdays growing up. I remember every July they would have Christmas specials on television and call it Christmas in July. I loved watching them and I always thought they would show them just for me for my Birthday!

Thinking about that made me think of my annual Christmas donation to St. Joesph Hospital. It's something that I have been doing for a few years now. The first year I only had about a month notice so I just went through my stockpile and just grabbed a bunch products of off my personal stockpile shelves it was enough to fill 4 boxes. I never took pictures, which I still wish that I would have.

The next year (2013) I was more prepared and knew that I had all year to look for great deals and free samples to make up my donation. This year was a bigger success as I ended up with enough items to fill 8 boxes, we had to make two trips in our vehicle to get it all there and I had to take pictures in two separate bunches. Here are the pictures.

 This one filled 5 boxes.

This is what fit in the last 3 boxes.

All the items were free samples or free with coupons. The donation cost me no money, just my time, thought and a little space in my basement. I received a letter in the mail shortly after I made the donation and it said with this donation I was able to help 35 needy families. It just makes me so happy to know that I'm helping people by just doing something I would be doing anyways. Shopping with coupons and looking for free samples.

I'm happy to say that my 2014 donation is well under way and I already have four boxes taped up and ready to go. I'll post those pics too in a couple of months.

African Lion Safari Family Trip

Just this past weekend me and my family (my hubbie and daughter) visited the African Lion Safari Adventure Park. There's so much to do there, way more than just the driving through the safari part. Our day started out by taking a boat ride on there African Queen boat cruise. We saw a couple of different animals, Lemurs, Pelicans, Storks and a few others. But of course in true preschooler fashion my daughter was more excited by the Mallard Ducks and Canadian Geese that were going for a swim in the water.

Then we took the opportunity to go on a safari bus tour around the safari instead of driving our own car through it. I wanted to get close to see the animals, but not that close. We didn't want any animals climbing over our car either especially the monkeys. Seeing all the different animals and there babies was so awesome. But to be honest it was more fun for me to see the reaction on my little four year olds face when she saw the lion and lioness's, and the giraffes. She never believed me when I told her that giraffes had really long necks, and to see her face when she saw them was great. She said mommie your right they do have long necks!!! I really think that taking the bus is the best way to go, the driver tells you what all the animals are and facts about them that you wouldn't otherwise get to hear.

After the safari bus ride we had lunch, my daughter wanted to have a picnic so I packed sandwiches and salads and sat in the car with the air on and ate our meal. Soon after we were all ready to get back to our adventure. We went to watch the Parrot Paradise show with all the beautiful birds. the did tricks and talked and one even sang part of Oh Canada!!

We then went for a ride on there Nature Boy railway train, which is pulled by a miniature replica of an 1863 C.P.Huntington Steam engine. The train drives around there Waterfowl Lake which is full of painted turtle, mallard ducks, a blue heron or two and of course Canadian geese. Then around the outside of the lake there are camels, reindeer, llamas and fallow deer!! My daughter loved the train ride so much we had to go on it twice.

Last but not least we ended the day at the Misumu Bay Wet play area which is full of water slides and water sprays and tipping buckets. I lost count how many times my daughter went down the slides, but after about an hour and a half I told her it was time to go. She was sad but it didn't last long after she remembered that she was able to pick something out from the gift shop.

There's so many more thing to see that we didn't have time to in just one visit, so we will definitely have to make this a yearly family trip. Next time hopefully we will have time watch the Elephant swim and take in another show or two.
